patterns….

I’ve been wanting to get all of my patterns ~ the ones I’ve created and the ones I’ve made from antique hooked rugs which are in the public domain ~ in one place so that they’re more easily accessible for those who want them.

You should be able to click and drag these to your desktop for copying (or double-click or right-click or just click ~ I hope!).  If the browser you’re using won’t allow you to access the photos try another browser.  Usually, from Chrome, I’m able to access the photos on my blog, but other times Chrome won’t let me.  So, I try Safari and sometimes Safari cooperates and sometimes not…. then onto Firefox, etc.

You have my permission to use these patterns for your own personal use, for creating limited number of finishes for sale.  Mass marketing of either patterns or finishes is forbidden.

Please give credit to me if you use one of my personal patterns or give credit as inspired by antique original if you use the patterns I’ve provided from antiques.

Thank you much and good luck!

new from notforgotten farm……

The other day, when I posted my last, I visited Lori Brechlin’s etsy shop to create a link for you to her offerings.  I started looking through all Lori’s wonderful punch needle patterns and found that she’d added some new designs since the last time I’d been at her shop…. oh boy, was I excited!

I ordered, and received, this fabulous four entitled, “farmhouse chores series”…..

two little fun ones

… and I couldn’t resist, “tokens of love” and, “polka dot angel”.  Now, of course, the trouble is, which one to start with?  You can stop by Lori’s Notforgotten Farm etsy shop by clicking here.

I’ll have to check out my other favorite designers to see what they’ve been up to!

What fun!

stockings… they’re not just for christmas anymore…. and a pattern from cathy

I love making Christmas stockings, but Christmas only comes once a year ~ so what’s a girl to do?  There’s only one solution… make stockings for every holiday and season.  I have three Halloween/Autumn stockings in the works currently, and I’m having a ball!

The above is a design from Robin of Bird in the Hand Primitives.

One of my favorite designs is from Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm.  This White Witch is right up my alley, and it’s the perfect size for a little stocking.

This is another design from the talented Robin of Bird in the Hand Primitives.  I adapted it a bit for a stocking.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Then I added some stocking stuffers….OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I think stocking stuffers are the reason I love stockings so much!  I backed and lined this stocking with ticking…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

…which is the same ticking I used to back the stocking stuffers.  Antique bone buttons and a little pocket finish the fun.

I’m excited to try my hand at Thanksgiving stockings next.  Here’s a design from Cathy Sowers of Four Ewe Farm.  She’s the one that does all those fabulous three-dimensional pieces I’ve been showing you, and she generously sent this pattern to me with her permission to share it with you!

I think this will make a great stocking!  Thank you Cathy!  If you use Cathy’s design, please giver her credit.

Enjoy these autumn days!

summer swimmers patterns….

I’ve had some requests for the Summer Swimmers patterns, so, here they are!

Folks ask me why I don’t simply offer all my patterns on my etsy shop.  Well, I just prefer to give them to you.

I mean, by the time etsy takes its cut ($.20 for each listing plus their commission, and transaction fees) and paypal takes its cut, there’s not a whole lot left.  Then there’s the time it takes to create the listings on etsy, not to mention the photographing and editing.  And, besides, I Like you!  I want to share, and I’m so incredibly flattered that anyone would be interested in my designs in the first place!

When I first started punching, I was completely clueless.  I didn’t know anything about copyright infringements (and I still don’t know much).  I didn’t know what patterns I could use for pieces I wanted to sell or just make for myself, etc. etc., etc…It was stressful, I wanted to punch and sell pieces, but I didn’t want to step on a designers toes….

My designs, such as they are, are here for anyone who wants to use them.  I ask only that you use my designs for your own personal use, for small quantity sales of finishes, that you give credit to the designer, and that you not copy, sell, or in other ways exploit, or mass produce the patterns.

So, all that being said, here are the Summer Swimmer patterns, such as they are:

summer swimmer 1

summer swimmer 1

I think I got the name right on the above.  Summer Swimmer 1:

summer swimmer 1 pattern

summer swimmer 1 pattern

summer swimmer 2

summer swimmer 2

If he was Summer Swimmer 1, she must be Summer Swimmer 2….

summer swimmer 2

summer swimmer 2

And now, I come to another reason why I’m reluctant to sell my patterns rather than give them away.  I don’t actually draw “patterns”.  I just draw a design on weavers cloth and start punching.  The fact is, I’m not interested in punching a design more than once, so I seldom create a paper pattern, and I really dislike that process ~ of creating a paper pattern and transferring it to the weavers cloth…. it’s just a waste of time and energy since I’ll never use it again….  “Ah me”, as Grandma H would say.

enjoy!

antique inspired patterns and finishes….

I’ve been having a ball working on antique inspired pieces.  Maybe you’d like to try your hand at these, too?

You can visit my etsy shop to see more photos of these antique inspired mats by clicking here.

I’ve included simple, and not super good quality, patterns in this post.  They are for your personal use, and should not be mass-produced either as patterns or finished pieces.  As these are antique rugs, the designs are in the public domain… I love that!  Unfortunately, as with so many antique rugs, there’s no information about the hooker, so credit cannot be given to any one individual.  However, I like to let others know that the design is not mine by referring to my finishes as “antique inspired”.

My favorite is the above, “We Win”.  OH!  Just look at all those missing/faded stitches ~ gorgeous!  How, oh how! am I to reproduce those perfect imperfections?  It was a challenge, but so much fun!

Next is “Two Horses”…

…and, here’s the pattern….

…again, apologies for the wrinkles.  Evidently, I forgot to photograph the colors I used, but here’s the list:  p3, p4, 146, 5, h212, and o510.

Here’s the finish…

The last piece I finished is “Two Chickens One Horse” (aren’t I creative with my titles?).

something old, something new…..

Hello!  I wanted to let you know, I opened a new etsy shop. :~>  It’s just for patterns and is called, “the simple quiet design”.  I wanted it to be called, “the simple quiet designs”, but I ran out of characters, (not character, I’ve got lots of that, just ask my mom).  You can find it by clicking here.  I still have my older etsy shop, the one where I sell my finishes ~ “the simple quiet” ~ which you can find by clicking here.  Both are works in progress, as am I.  I don’t suppose I’ll ever be a professional anything (“ah me” as Grandma would say), but I’m quite happy with this (very) small expansion.   We all have our priorities, after all, and expanding nap-time often takes precedence over expanding ones business interests!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

enjoy life however you can!

rebeccca

happy new year…..

Happy New Year to you and yours!  I hope your eve was warm, happy and safe…

Did you keep any resolutions in 2013 that made you content and joyful?

I met one of my goals for 2013.  I, at last, listed several of my “patterns” on etsy ~ whew!  If you’d like to take a look, click here.  This, for some reason, has been a huge ordeal for me….  possibly because my patterns are just very rough line drawings ~ no instructions, no suggestions, no floss or wool lists.  Apparently, I believe most people want more than just a sketch to work from…. Anyway, there they are, on etsy, finally.WhiteRoseVintageGraphicsFairy0091

may all your happy dreams for 2014 come true!

rebecca

p.s. thank you graphics fairy for the clip art!
